… Jesus my Savior.
He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He opened not His mouth;
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.
He was taken from prison and from judgment,
And who will declare His generation?
For He was cut off from the land of the living;
For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.
And they made His grave with the wicked —
But with the rich at His death,
Because He had done no violence,
Nor was any deceit in His mouth.
It must have seemed like the end of the world to the followers of Jesus, as they took his blood drained body down from the cross and laid it in the tomb. An innocent man slaughtered like an animal for sacrifice.
Of course it was the end of the world. The old things had passed away and the blood that seeped from His body was making all things new again. The newness smells like death with hope.
Are you in Christ? Does the old world lay in the grave? Tomorrow is the day of Great Resurrection. I pray that your sins are buried with Him today and that tomorrow you will rise to greet your Savior. He is your sure redeemer and I pray that you will walk in newness of life.
