Faithfulness…

… on display.

My in-laws are in town and we are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. What a testimony to the world: to love, live and die for one another for five decades. My children get to see faithfulness incarnated and isn’t that what God says marriage is?

Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

I am humbled and pleased to be in their family.

May God bless Jerry and Francis with seeing their children’s, children’s children.

  1. I am truly blessed with a wife that has been at my side for 50 years and has helped me be more than I ever imagined I could or would be. As the years have passed I have become more acutely aware that without Frances at my side and praying for me, John, and Mary, my home would have been just a house. She has stood with me when others have given up on me and for that reason I am honored to call her my “lovely bride”.
John and Mary have brought us much joy and they both have married well. You and Andrea are like our very own and we love you both.
Each of our five grandchildren are so special. They are becoming, as their parents are, useful citizens representing the principles of the almighty God, our lord and savior Jesus Christ.
I bow my head to no man for my children, their spouse, and my grand children bring honor to my family and make this old man proud. I am thankful to the Lord that I have lived to see this day and that He has kept His hand on my family. His love is everything. He is Truth.

  2. Congratulations Grandpa W! Your marriage is an inspiration to all of us, as are your children and grandchildren. In a society where children date like they’re married and marry like they’re dating, we thank God for you!
