Here’s the headline for an article from about a week ago:
One of these women actually had an abortion and was later sterilized in order to minimize her carbon footprint. This seems perfectly logical to me, given their presuppositions. The modern environmental movement is barren: lots of flora and fauna but no place for man on planet earth. We should feel guilty just for being alive and not having roots. And it’s true — babies aren’t eco friendly. All that methane being emitted from tiny abdominal tracts.
A biblical worldview must answer this nonsense and speak compassionately and truthfully to these deluded women.
Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have ordained strength,
Because of Your enemies,
That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. Psalm 8:2-5
When you eat the labor of your hands,
You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.
Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine
In the very heart of your house,
Your children like olive plants
All around your table. Psalm 128:2-3
Now that sounds eco friendly: all those little olive plants pumping nourishing oxygen into the atmosphere. God’s plan for man as viceregent, steward, favored son, and heir of the world in Christ is beautiful — so much more beautiful than a world without babies.
By the way, to imagine a world without babies, check out the novel by P.D. James, The Children of Men. The movie was based on it. Profound stuff. It’s a hopeless world without the precious gift of our little ones, our covenant riches.
